Abraham S. Kebede is an early-stage researcher in the INNOVATEDIGNITY project funded by EU Horizon 2020 through the MSCA ITN at the University of Brighton. Starting in January, he will begin an industrial placement with KareInn, one of the leading organisations working to improve the quality of care for older adults using innovative digital care management systems and software in the UK. In his PhD, Abraham studies the experiences of older adults with everyday and care technologies, focusing on the pragmatic and aesthetic (beauty, enjoyment, dignity…) factors influencing technological non-use, adoption, and continued use. He employs a qualitative methodology based on everyday user experience in all its complexity and situatedness to inform new frameworks of dignity and digital care and its relation to the well-being of older adults. During his secondment, Abraham will bring his experience in user experience and qualitative research to explore digital adoption at a system level and in a B2B setting, learn how KareInn’s care management software is implemented in residential care homes and how it improves the quality of care.
